Imagine of a Free India

The Mumbai blasts have changed the thoughts of every Indian compelling everyone to think "are we still supposed to watch silently things happening and take it as granted ? " or time has come that we do something about it. But the next obvious question comes to our mind “Can we do something to change India from where it is now?” The answer is of course "Yes", but the cost is very high. It is not true that we do not have very high energetic people who can change the system, but they are not willing to come to be as part of the system. The simple reason is that in order to do this they need to leave their active engagements (which of course feeds them and their family), and then try to be part of the system either individually or through a political party. In both the cases, the chances of getting an opportunity to serve the Nation is very less, as if one tries individually, he has to put lots of efforts to go to the people, convince them and get elected (even not sure), and even after that, he/she can't be very sure that he can be part of the rulling party. And if one tries to be part of the political party, then everyone knows that it is not an easy job. One has to work at a very ground level for quite some time to get noticed in the party, and in this process spends years with uncertainty just hoping that some day he may get a chance to be part of the System governing the nation or part of it. Due to this cumbersome process, many people prefer not to think about a career in politics because even though one will be honest in his integrity, he may not get a chance to do anything. Sadly our bureaucrats are governed by politicians, very few of whom do not know how to govern themselves. And to add to that, a very good percentage of these politicians do not even have the motivation to serve the Nation honestly with good integrity.

Every time we are frustrated with some issue, we blame the system, but we are handicapped to do anything or take any action to solve the problem. So a big question always comes to my mind: Has the right time arrived for lunching a party which will have only one mandate - "a Developed India”? There should be nothing else and it has to be based on pure competitiveness and efficiency. There should be good amount of screenings for selection of candidates (of course those who volunteer to serve the nation, as integrity can never be forced). And what should be the return to those who come upfront to serve the Nation? Of course there can't be anything more that self-satisfaction that can be guaranteed to serve the Nation with Honesty, integrity in a timely, planned manner.

We have so many real issues, which no political party has ever dared to fight against. Let me just list a few:

Corruption - The biggest issue which is a major hurdle in development. Has any political party come with a mandate to fight corruption at ground level with proper plans ever? We need to motivate people to stop promoting corruption for their individual gain; we need to motivate people to work for a Developed India. Of course we should have rewards.

Population problems - Why can't we have a mandate for this? This is going to be the next biggest hurdle in the development. If not fought now, it will wipe every effort of Development. People should be encouraged to have maximum 1 or 2 kids, and we can declare some sought of benefits for them who practice it.

Bad Infrastructure - We have heard of many developments in recent times, but still a good amount of this effort goes in vain due to corruption.

Productiveness - In the Govt Sector, has any political party in power ever questioned the productiveness of the working community? Why can't we be productive in a planned manner? Many Pay Commissions came, but did any commission raise this concern?

Reservation - Why should we have reservation for a Job? Will someone opt for a operation by a doctor who is not competent but he has become a doctor because of reservation? Do we have reservation in international sports events? In all the private IT companies there is no reservation, but still the progress is impressive. It is because there is only one trend, Competitiveness. If you perform, then you are rewarded, if you don't, then you are punished. Why can't we practice it for the sake of development?

Of course we should have reservation, but for only for education and for one caste, that is those who are economically poor and can't afford to education. We should extend all the reservations to those who are economically backward, so that they can attain a certain level of education, and after that it should be their choice, to compete or not. We have people of minorities group, but this term, minority has been evolved out of the bad policy of politicians over a period of time. Are we not depriving people by terming them a minority group?

And like wise there are many problems, if written will definitely touch our humanity. People like me, are frustrated at many places but can't do anything except discussing about them for a few minutes or blaming the system. I am also no exception. But today I see the hope, hope of imagining of a Free India - Free from the problems I mentioned, and many more. I am waiting for some one take the call. If some body like our previous President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam can start a Party for the Developed India, then definitely many people like me will come forward to serve the nation proudly.

Gandhiji brought independence for India, freeing it from the British, but it is the people who fought the battle. Similarly we have to free ourselves from the handicapped system. Time has come to have a FREE India with only one goal - a Developed India based only on competitiveness and without corruption.
